A .41 OVER AND UNDER TAP-ACTION FLINTLOCK POCKET PISTOL BY BLAIR, CIRCA 1800, no visible serial number,
with 3in. turn-off barrels, the muzzles deeply grooved to accept the barrel key, boxlock action with borderline engraving and decorated with martial trophies, the left side also engraved with the makers name 'Blair' and on the right 'BIRMINGHAM', tap lever to direct the fire to either the top or bottom barrels, centre cock with sliding bar safety that locks the frizzen, figured walnut slab sided one piece butt, with inset escutcheon bearing the initials 'A. C.', action slightly at fault

Provenance: The maker was probably David Blair of St. Pauls Square, Birmingham circa 1786 to 1812. The business was continued by his son also named David until 1822
